Olympiacos, Armani and Real: The fight for the “golden” position
Olympiacos, Armani and Real are now “fighting” for second and third regular-season places in the EuroLeague, with everything open. Their record, the next games and the real motivation, which is avoiding fourth place and meeting Anantolou Efes in the playoffs.
EuroLeague Basketball and the shareholders decided not to count the matches with the Russian teams and to start the “race” for the playoffs, but also for the 2nd and 3rd places. Two positions Olympiacos are now fighting over, Real and Armani Milano.
As the EuroLeague enters the 29th round today (October 3rd), with the Real vs Armani game in Madrid standing out (9:45 p.m., Novasports 2 and LIVE from Sportish), Sportish presents the data that will be used in the “battle” of the Three are for opponents but also the perhaps more important battle: avoiding 4th place which will very likely lead to Anadolu Efes in the EuroLeague playoffs as the EuroLeague holder has the lead to take the latter in 5th place.
First of all, here is the rating that applies to the Russian teams outside:
- Barcelona 18-4
- Real Madrid 16-6
- Armani Milan 16-6
- Olympiacos 15-7
- Anantulous Efes 12-9
- Bayern 12-10
- Maccabi Tel Aviv 11-10
- Monaco 10-13
- Red Star 10-12
- Fenerbahce 9-13
- Alba Berlin 8-12
- Basconia 8-15
- Villeurbanne 7-15
- Salgiris 6-16
- Panathinaikos 6-16
Real and Armani are second with a record of 16-6, followed by Olympiakos with a record of 15-7. Normally, at the end of tonight (3/10), the winner of the Real – Armani game will be alone in second place, while the loser will be in third place. If Olympiacos beats Alba in their own match today, then Alba in Berlin (21:00, Novasports Prime and LIVE from Sportish), then he equalizes with the loser of his match in Madrid.
What about a draw
In the case of a possible draw between the three gladiators, the matter is quite simple and will become even clearer after the end of today’s match between Real Madrid and Armani. So we have and we say:
Real – Olympiakos draw: The Madrilenians have the advantage. The reason is that they lost in the first round by 6 points to SEF (74-68) but won in the second round match in Madrid by 7 points (75-67) with Yabuselle shooting with 3 seconds remaining in the final of the game prove crucial.
Olympiakos draw – Armani Milano: Olympiacos have the advantage after beating the Italians twice (72-93 in Milan in the first round and 67-58 in SEF in the second round).
Equal Real – Armani: At the moment Real are ahead, who won in Milan in the first round with 73:75. If he wins today or loses by a point, then he has the advantage again. If they lose by a +3 point difference, Armani has the advantage.
Three-way draw Real – Olympiacos – Armani: This will be clarified after the end of the game between Real and Armani, when the results of all teams in the games between them are known.
The teams’ schedule until the end of the regular season
Real (16-6)
Real – Armani Milan (10/3)
Madrid – Villeurbanne (17/3)
Anantolous Efes – Real (22/3)
Maccabi – Real (24/3)
Panathinaikos – Real (31/3)
Real Madrid – Bayern (7/4)
Armani Milan (16-6)
Real – Armani (10/3)
Armani – Bayern (18/3)
Maccabi – Armani (22/3)
Anantolo Efes – Armani (24/3)
Armani – Monaco (31/3)
Villeurbanne – Armani (7/4)
Olympiacos (15-7)
Alba Berlin – Olympiacos (10/3)
Zalgiris – Olympiacos (15/3)
Olympiacos – Panathinaikos (17/3)
Monaco – Olympiacos (23/3)
Villeurbanne – Olympiacos (25/3)
Olympiacos – Barcelona (1/4)
A look at the program shows that Real has the most balanced program with 3 home and 3 away games. At the same time, Olympiacos and Armani have only two home games, with the “Red-Whites” even welcoming “eternal” opponents Panathinaikos and champions Barcelona.
At the same time, of course, both Armani and Real are called up to face Anadolu Efes, Turkey and Maccabi in Israel in games that are very likely to play a crucial role in the final table.
In any case, it becomes clear that second place remains an open case for the three gladiators. And it will be interesting to see in which hands it will end up.

Jokic may lose his chance to compete for NBA MVP award
Denver Nuggets announced Nikola Jokic He will miss at least four weeks due to left knee hyperextension.
The Serb is expected to miss all 18 matches in January and his maximum appearances this season could be limited to 64 matches. So Jokic will lose the opportunity to compete for the NBA’s main prizes – MVP and inclusion in the All-NBA, as this requires playing at least 65 games in the regular season.
Theoretically, he could return for the January 31 game against the Brooklyn Nets, which would give Nikola the opportunity to play 65 games before the end of the season, but that scenario is unlikely.
Jokic was injured in the last seconds of the first half of the match against Miami Heat (123:147) and did not return to the field after a long break. Before his injury, he managed to score 21 points, 8 assists and 5 rebounds in just 19 minutes.
Jokic averaged 29.9 points, 12.4 rebounds and 11.1 assists per game this season.
