Kostas Tsartsaris and Yiannis Kalambokis are traveling to the USA as part of the “Greeks Abroad” program (28.3.-2.4.) which will take place in New York and are looking for young athletes with Greek roots.

A few months ago, Costas Tsartsaris analyzed the EEC plan for the development program, which is intended to resemble the Spanish model. Some of the above have been in place for a long time and now another important part of the plan is being put into effect: “Greeks Abroad”.

As announced by the EEC, the head of the federation’s development program will travel to the United States together with Yiannis Kalambokis (coach of the U16 national team) where they will oversee the events of the camp organized as part of the “Greeks Abroad” program (28.3. – 2.4.), which is about finding young athletes with Greek roots. In fact, at the end of the camp – which will include seminars by G-League coaches and other activities – one child will be selected to travel to Greece and train with the national team of the appropriate age group.

The EWG announcement details it:

The “Greeks Abroad” program initiated by the EWG will run from 28.3. until 2.4. host its first group event in New York. The aim of the program is to find young athletes from all over the world with Greek roots and, in addition to identifying and monitoring their sporting progress, to establish direct contact with basketball players from the country of their ancestors.

EEC Development Program Manager Kostas Tsartsaris and Greeks Abroad Manager and U16 National Team Coach Yannis Kalambokis will travel to the USA and oversee the camp events, which will be not just training but many others useful activities for children.

The two national coaches are invited to the camp, which is being organized by expatriate gymnast and Super League Athletic Academy coach Dimitris Pristouris (James Pristouris), and will be held at Archangel Michael Congregational facilities in Port Washington Boys and girls born in 2005 or later.

The SLAA platform allows second generation Greeks to register and from the teams that are formed, one child will be selected at the end to travel to Greece and train with the national team of their respective age group.

The program includes seminars with G-League and high school coaches, while gifts are provided for participants wearing Greek national team shirts..
