Bartzokas: “We were soft in defense and quick in attack”
George Bartzokas saw the Olympiacos players completely out of plan, as he said in the press conference after the game against Alba Berlin.
Disappointed with Olympiacos’ image in Berlin, George Bartzokas admitted that his team lacked tension in defense and patience in attack, didn’t have the discipline to pursue the plan against the big and small of Alba.
Details of what George Bartzokas said:
“First of all I want to congratulate Alba, she played really well. He played confidently and was motivated to approach us. We played a very, very bad game in defence, not only in the second half but also in the first. We were totally out of plan to have a team with big creators and guards that move perfectly off the ball. We were soft in defense and rushed in attack, we didn’t have patience.
When we stopped after a pass or even without a pass and started executing, we were met with surprise. If we had an 11-1 record away from home, we would be NBA champions. The EuroLeague is difficult, you saw how Alba played, won five of the last six games. We’re happy with our record, but we still have five more games to qualify for the playoffs, which will be a win for us. We put in a bad performance tonight. I can’t tell the difference between home and away games“.
