McCollum of the Pelicans on the Coronavirus Protocol
Bad news for the Pelicans, who have announced that CJ McCollum has been placed on the NBA’s health and safety protocol for the coronavirus.
The Pelicans will be without CJ McCollum for the next season. That’s because the veteran security guard has been placed under the NBA’s health and safety protocol because of the coronavirus, which is why he’s likely to be absent from the team’s next few games.
The specific news came at the worst possible time for the Pelicans, after announcing just a day earlier that Brandon Ingram would be unavailable for the next 7-10 days through injury. This means that in the next crucial games they will lose the services of their top two scorers in an attempt to move up the West rankings (currently ranked 10th). And all without mentioning Zion Williamson, who didn’t play at all this year.
McCollum went to New Orleans in exchange just before the end of the trading period. In the 12 games he has worn the team jersey, he has 27.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, 6.7 assists and 1.1 steals with an average of 39.8% on three-pointers in 36 minutes of participation.
