Popovic is the coach with the most wins in NBA history, beating the Spurs over the Jazz
The Spurs extended a 15-point lead against the Jazz in the fourth period and went on to prevail 104-102, helping Greg Popovic overtake Don Nelson and climb to No. 1 on the list of most-winning coaches and the to reach the magic number 1,336.
Greg Popovic is now the most win-to-win coach in NBA history. The great coach saw the Spurs go 104-102, the Jazz – returning from -15 in the fourth period – amassed a career 1,336 wins and surpassed Don Nelson to climb to the top of the list.
San Antonio were solidly behind by just – or more – 10 points starting in the second half and going as high as -15 (66-81) early in the fourth half. However, a singles score of 18-3 helped level the game to a tie (84-84) before taking a 96-95 lead in the final with 77 seconds to go.
The Spurs then increased the difference to 3 points (95-98), with the game since leading to free roulette and San Antonio claiming the win.
