LUKASHOV: “The most important thing for Prometheus is to prepare well for the LABL final”

BC Captain “Prometheus” Denis Lukashov Commented on reaching the last four of the Latvian-Estonian Basketball League:

There were two tough matches in the quarterfinals, we were preparing for a tough fight. Viimsi confirmed these expectations. We didn’t manage to win, so we tried to focus and recover before the decisive game. We did not achieve everything, but we got a very difficult victory. Now there is only one goal – to regain strength and prepare for the Final Four.

We will try to do our best. Our medical staff planned some recovery procedures. There is a difficult calendar and we must prepare for it. A lot of things went wrong, but thanks to our aggressive defense and energy, we won a tough victory.

After the game we played with Viimsi in the locker room, we remembered that we only had three 3-pointers. But as the coach said after the Venice game, in such matches the defense decides everything. In this match, as in the match against the Italians, he was aggressive from the first minute. He had a few offensive rebounds. Little things like that make a big difference.”

in the semi-finals Latvian-Estonian Basketball League They will play in Tallinn on April 7:

  • 16:00. Prometheus (Ukraine) – Tartu (Estonia)
  • 19:00. Kalev (Estonia) – VEF Riga (Latvia)

Jokic may lose his chance to compete for NBA MVP award

Denver Nuggets announced Nikola Jokic He will miss at least four weeks due to left knee hyperextension.

The Serb is expected to miss all 18 matches in January and his maximum appearances this season could be limited to 64 matches. So Jokic will lose the opportunity to compete for the NBA’s main prizes – MVP and inclusion in the All-NBA, as this requires playing at least 65 games in the regular season.

Theoretically, he could return for the January 31 game against the Brooklyn Nets, which would give Nikola the opportunity to play 65 games before the end of the season, but that scenario is unlikely.

Jokic was injured in the last seconds of the first half of the match against Miami Heat (123:147) and did not return to the field after a long break. Before his injury, he managed to score 21 points, 8 assists and 5 rebounds in just 19 minutes.

Jokic averaged 29.9 points, 12.4 rebounds and 11.1 assists per game this season.
