NBA player files counterclaim against teen who accused him of beating him – media
Memphis Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant has filed a counterclaim against a teenager who had previously accused the basketball player of beating him, TMZ reports, citing court records.
The documents say the 23-year-old was involved in an altercation with Joshua Holloway while playing basketball at home last July. According to Morant, the teenager “clenched his fists and approached him aggressively, as if about to attack.” In a counterclaim, the player alleges that Holloway then lied to the cops that he was the victim of the incident. In addition, Morant states that Holloway misrepresented to the police that he allegedly had a gun and also threatened to return and set fire to the house.
Last year, the 17-year-old sued Morant, alleging he was beaten by a Memphis player and a friend. The case continues to be heard in civil court.
In March, the NBA suspended Morant for eight games without pay for behavior detrimental to the league. Earlier, the basketball player demonstrated a gun during a live broadcast on the social network.
