Peristeri defeated AEK with a “hot” Denmon and took the first step toward the Basket League Semifinals
Peristeri bwin has two chances to win after defeating AEK 87-73 in the first of the two teams in the playoffs, which sends them to the semi-finals of the Basket League.
A very ambiguous series on the first round of the playoffs, which showed with “Guten Abend” that they are open to any result. Peristeri bwin and AEK fought a great battle on Sunday evening (April 23) at Andreas Papandreou. The hosts won (87:73) and took the first step towards qualifying for the semi-finals of the Basket League.
Vassilis Spanoulis’ team had Marcus Denmon in an incredible situation in the first half, Francisco – Moraitis followed and with a rotation of 7-8 players, Peristeri made the first move that gives him two chances to achieve his goal, which is the match with the winner of the pair Panathinaikos – Kolossos (1-0).
Elias Kanzouris’ team, meanwhile, had a bad night for Achille Mitchell when the American was fouled early and eventually sent off with five in just 11:16. Dimitris Flionis and Kenny Williams were the leaders of the yellow-blacks, who are now returning to their stadium for the clash against Andreas Papandreou.
16-13 points from opponent’s errors, 28-26 points from bat, 2-2 points from second chance (AEK had 16 offensive rebounds), 9-9 points from surprise, 23-33 the points from the substitute, Peristeri had 32/34 shots, the score had 13/19.
The race
With Denmon in amazing shape, Peristeri started the match well while AEK didn’t have an equally effective evening from Jankovic. Denmon wrote with shots 21-13 in the 7th minute, he also made a three to make it 24-13, the first period belonging to the hosts who were under most pressure early in the second. The guests saw Bilan do well on both sides of the floor, writing Moraitis – Radanov 37-25 before Kanzouris was charged with a technical error and leveling the difference at 18 (43-25).
However, from this point until the 26th minute the score was 13:33 in singles, whereby AEK came back into play and took the lead at the beginning of the second half (56:59). The derby everyone has been waiting for was beginning to unfold before our eyes but Peristeri were more even as they felt real pressure. Francisco made it 72-65 with a difficult shot after 33 minutes and everything seemed normal from there. Mitchell caught his fifth foul and was sent off, Denmon wore down his opponents and the Pigeons deservedly clinched the result in a series that still has a long way to go.
