Sporting director Prometheus: “The club has a very good reputation”

Pole Bronisław Wawrzyczyk, Prometheus’ new sporting director, said of his appointment:

– How did the option to work with BC Prometheus come about? How did the negotiations go? Why did you decide to continue your career in the Ukraine team? What do you think of Prometheus as a club?

“I met Coach Neno a few years ago and we reconnected this season. We had a very good meeting ahead of one of the Eurocup games when we expressed our mutual interest in potentially joining forces in the near future. Apart from being able to work with such a high-level coach, he convinced me The thing was definitely my role at the club. The Athletic Director position is a natural progression for a Scout. After years of studying and researching players, I got to know all aspects of the basketball business very well, developed my personal skills, and felt ready for the next step. Additionally, a Prometheus It has a very good reputation as a club and has opportunities for further development, which I think is not only prestigious but also very ambitious work.

– What exactly will your work in “Prometheus” be?

“My main responsibility will be to build the roster, to make sure that the players we sign are the best fit for our budget, playstyle and culture. Making the right choice requires following the market throughout the year. I will need to help. I will be involved in all day-to-day matters related to sports and team performance. I will also represent my club at official meetings and events. In addition to pure basketball knowledge, my job will require communication, communication and management skills.

– Bronislav, what are your goals with Prometheus?

– I am a very ambitious person, so I aim to reach the final in the coming years, maybe even win the Eurocup. It’s hard to quit while working in the Euroleague… I hope I get back to this level one day. I would be glad if this happened to Prometheus in a free Ukraine. But most of all, I want to write my name in the history of the club, to leave the club better and stronger than it is now.

– Where do you start your business? Maybe you already have ideas for future Prometheus players?

– Since our season is over, we are starting to work actively in the market. I have a lot of ideas but first we need to decide on the players we have this season so we know exactly who to surround them with. One idea that everyone agrees on is next season’s Latvian player, so our fans can expect that to happen, but it’s still too early to talk about specific names.
