Bulgarian basketball legend Atanas Golomeev has died at the age of 76.
Bulgarian basketball legend Atanas Golomeev has died at the age of 76.
Golomeev served the sport as both a player and a coach and had a major impact on his country’s basketball, participating in five EuroBaskets with the national emblem (1969, 1971, 1973, 1975, 1977).
He started his career at CSKA Sofia (1965–68), followed by Akademik (1969–74), Levski (1974–81, 1983–84) and Antana (1981–83). After retiring from football, he tried to find his feet as a coach, taking over the bench from Levski Sofia in the 1985/86 season.
In 2019 he was inducted into the FIBA Hall of Fame.
