The press service of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) announced that it has extended the mandate of the head of the Russian Basketball Federation (RFB), Andrei Kirilenko, in the organization’s Central Council.
This decision was made at a meeting of the FIBA Central Council in Manila on Saturday, September 9, but it will come into force after agreement with the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
Kirilenko headed the 3×3 basketball commission in the FIBA Central Council in September 2019.
Previously, FIBA suspended the national teams of Russia and Belarus from participating in competitions under the auspices of the organization.
