Yagupova did not help. Ukrainian club unexpectedly lost the Turkish championship
Mersin Çukuruva club, whose colors were defended by Ukrainian women’s national team captain Alina Yagupova, was defeated in the second round match of the Turkish regular championship.
Having defeated Fenerbahçe in the opening round of the season, Mersin Çukuruva unexpectedly lost 71:76 away to İzmit Belediyespor team.
Alina Yagupova spent almost 30 minutes on the field in the match. He made 14 points (3/10 two-pointers, 1/2 three-pointers, 5/8 free throws), 4 rebounds, 8 assists and became the most productive player of the team.
On September 23, Mersin Çukurva will host Hatay at home. And on October 4, Yagupova and Co. will start the new Euroleague season.
Note that Mersin Çukurva is in seventh place in the Turkish Championship standings after two starting rounds.
