Evgeniy MURZIN: “We can afford the opponents, we will prepare”

Head coach of the Ukraine national women’s basketball team Evgeny Murzin He shared his impressions about the EuroBasket 2025 qualifying draws.

“There are no weak opponents in the selection, every team can offer surprises, but overall it is a normal subgroup.

From the first basket, we can distinguish the European champions Belgium, Spain and France, who need no introduction. Serbia fell, which means we will play Serbia. At the last European Championship they lost in the quarter-finals to the future champions of Belgium, and before that they constantly participated in award matches. You shouldn’t expect them to relax, especially with such a coach.

I think the Serbians will be the favorites in our group, but we will fight for second place, we should not forget Portugal and North Macedonia. Portugal’s youth is good, but we have a more experienced team.

I think we are capable against the opponents, we will prepare and work. There is not much time left for the first matches,” said Evgeniy Murzin.

Let us remind you that according to the draw results, the Ukrainian national team is in Group G. Our team’s opponents will be basketball players from Serbia, Portugal and North Macedonia.

In addition to the group winners, the four best second-place teams will receive direct tickets to the European Championship. The election will run in three windows: November 2023, November 2024 and February 2025.
