ESAKE member of the Executive Committee of ULEB
ESAKE and the Vice President of the Board, Mr. Michalis Melis, have been elected to the new Executive Committee of ULEB, the European Union of Basketball Leagues.
The vice president of the ESAKE board, Michalis Melis (on the left in the photo, next to the president of ESAKE, Vangelis Galatsopoulos), was elected to the new executive committee of the ULEB.
ESAKE participates in the executive committee together with the Italian, Israeli and joint Dutch and Belgian leagues and is led by ULEB president and veteran basketball player Thomas Van Den Spiegel.
The ULEB press release states:
“The Union of European Basketball Leagues (ULEB) is pleased to announce the election of the new Executive Committee at the ULEB General Assembly on September 20th in Brussels.
Four notable member leagues were elected to the ULEB Executive Committee, marking an important moment in the organization’s ongoing efforts to promote European basketball:
– Lega Basket Serie A (LBA) – Italy
– Basketball Super League (BSL) – Israel
– Hellenic Association of Anonymous Basketball Societies (HEBA) – Greece
– BeNeLeague Basketball – Belgium and Netherlands
These newly elected members, along with ULEB President Tomas Van Den Spiegel, will work closely to lead ULEB’s future initiatives. During the General Assembly, ULEB member leagues held constructive discussions about the challenges and opportunities for the upcoming European Basketball Championship season and the European basketball landscape in general.
Tomas Van Den Spiegel, President of ULEB: “I would like to thank all member leagues for their active participation in the General Assembly. The newly elected members of the Executive Committee reflect the diversity and dynamism of European basketball and we look forward to another exciting season.
