The race
Baskonia moved into a driving position in the first quarter against Real, which did not allow the Basques to escape with his “weapon” shot from behind the 6:75 line. Sergio Yule and Gerson Yabusele led Real’s attack, which increased the tempo in the second quarter. With a 6-0 run at the start of the second period, Madrid took the lead and the game got off to a good start. Dzanan Moussa came into the game and provided solutions for Real, while the hosts relied on Costello and Moneke.
The game was uneventful, there was one lead change after another and the… thriller continued until the last second. Yabusele dominated at Real, the Madrid striker was on the verge of a double-double. What was notable about the final result was the fact that Facundo Cabaso scored the game-winning field goal 1:47 before the final whistle. Howard missed Baskonia’s final shot and Real celebrated the victory.
