Aris looks to the future: the subsidiary team and the investment in the production process

Taking advantage of the right granted by the EWG to teams to maintain a subsidiary, Aris is investing in a forward-looking partnership and in the players who will man the men’s team in the coming years.

Aris announced the start of his collaboration with Admiral Votsis and now the Yellows will have a subsidiary team that will compete in the national categories. Specifically in the National League 2, as it was renamed from the 3rd National League.

The movement of the Thessaloniki team is not only negligible and points the way to a new project with an eye to the future and the next generations of players who will occupy the “Emperor’s” men’s team.

What does this mean about Admiral Votsis?

Aris and Admiral Votsis joined forces to collaborate with the goal of mutual competitive advantage. But what does the agreement between both sides mean in practice? Aris athletes aged 16 to 21 have the right to participate with the team competing in National League 2. In fact, in addition to children and youth players, players aged 16 to 18 can also demonstrate their strengths in a national championship.

Targeting Mars

The aim of the Thessaloniki team, which continued with this step, is none other than the promotion and development of Aris’ new players, who may not have the opportunity to “bake” with the team’s jersey in the Basket League and European competitions “.

The young athletes can be tested at the men’s level and even at a national championship to make themselves competitive if they are deemed suitable to represent the Aris jersey at the men’s level.

Players who might not otherwise get the chance to compete at the men’s level have the opportunity to do so early and not lose valuable years until they develop into fully-fledged basketball players.

The examples of the past

Aris is a team that has proven in practice in the past that it has the ability and know-how to produce talents and athletes who will become stars later in their careers in Greek, European and not only basketball.

Kostas Papanikolaou and Sasha Vezenkov are brilliant examples of the Yellows’ manufacturing process, as they are athletes still playing at the top European level.

The current Olympiakos captain made his professional basketball debut in the yellow jersey at the age of 18 and received the title of best player under 22 for the 2008-09 season. His path is well known, because Papanikolaou wore the red-white, blue-green of Barcelona, but also the jerseys of the Rockets and the Nuggets before he returned to port.

The current Sacramento Kings player appeared in the Basket League at the age of 16 wearing Aris’ jersey. His development was quick and obvious, as later came the three years in Barcelona, his start in the Olympiacos jersey and now the NBA.

There are quite a few athletes who became famous in Aris and now play a leading role in the Greek championship. Dimitris Flionis, Linos Chrysikopoulos, but also Lefteris Bohorides, who returned to his promoted team in the summer, are such examples.

Aris provides a foundation for the production process, knowing that investing in the development of young athletes is the only way for the team’s competitive stability and self-sustainability in the years to come.
