The 2023 draft is one of the most interesting generations in recent years. There is no doubt that it will be led by Victor Wembaneyama, but there are many other names, one of whom is Author Thompson. Amen’s twin brother came to the Pistons with the No. 5 pick, but in his first NBA game, he showed that the Detroit team was right in selecting him.

Monty Williams gave him the difficult task of guarding Jimmy Butler and Tyler Herro, and the rookie didn’t disappoint, making NBA history with five blocks at age 20.

This makes Author Thompson the youngest player in NBA history to record five or more blocks in his career debut at 20 years and 269 days old. The previous holder was Shawn Bradley, who held it at the age of 21 with the Philadelphia 76ers in the 1993-94 season. In addition to the plug, Thompson had four points, seven rebounds and three assists.

The night didn’t go well for the young players and the Pistons, but the victory ended up being 103-102 for the Miami Heat.
