Dimitris Papanikolaou explained in a post on Facebook how he safely freed a young man lying on the road from a highway.

His sensitivity to social issues is great. Dimitris Papanikolaou, experienced basketball player, is on the autism spectrum and knows how to deal with situations like the one he found himself in on Sunday (October 29), when he found himself in front of a young man lying on a highway and he did everything he could to keep him safe and sound from the dangers to which he had been exposed.

The publication of Dimitris Papanikolaou in detail:

As is already known, today, after we had been on the highway for about 10 minutes, I saw a young man lying on the ground refusing to be touched by adults when they tried to stop him. I checked to see if there was any blood nearby or if the vehicle had crashed, but I didn’t see anything. I took a quick look in the mirror to assess whether I could help or cause polynecro. I understand that this is a case of poorly functioning autism in crisis.

I told everyone to move away from me and stop with a triangle behind the cars because I knew it would take some time to get him out of there because when someone is in a crisis, their strength multiplies alongside the others .

At first we lay together on the asphalt without even touching him, and I entered his world.

When I realized he was ready and trusted me, I asked him to take my arm and walk to the end.

It is important to be informed. And I hope that in such cases, when emergency services or the police are called, they will be trained in autism.

Please do not take this lightly towards the child’s parents. These are often difficult situations that need to be overcome.

Finally, I would like to close with something Tasos Livaditis said.

And if we don’t die for each other, we’re all dead.

We risked it, but we’ll sleep better today“.
