Baskonia changed its coach and brought back the most successful coach in history
Baskonia basketball club announced the dismissal of head coach Joan Peñarroya. It was reported that Dusko Ivanovich will replace him.
“The most successful coach in the club’s history is entering a new phase at the helm of Baskonia. Dusko Ivanovic returns to Vitoria to lead our team until the end of this season. The Balkan coach from Red Star Belgrade has extensive experience in the Euroleague and other tournaments.
The Montenegrin coach, who is the most successful coach in the club’s more than 60-year history, took over the club for the fourth time in his career. Under his leadership, Baskonia won three Spanish championships, three Spanish Cups and one Super Cup.
Baskonia press service reported that Ivanovic will be introduced to the players in the next few hours and will hold his first training session as the new coach.
Previously, 66-year-old Ivanovic was the head of Baskonia in 2000-2005, 2008-2012, 2019-2021.
Baskonia is in the 16th place in the Euroleague rankings, with one win out of five matches.
