“SAD ANNOUNCEMENT AMATEUR

ON THE DEATH OF KING GEORGE

The news of the death of Vassilis Georgiou, who died at the age of 86, has caused sadness in Apollo’s family.

The name Vassilis Georgiou is associated with Apollon since he was transferred to our team from Skagiopoulio in 1951, with whom he competed until 1959, where together with him we won the local championship in 1956 and 1958.

However, our paths never really parted, he returned after years and took over the coaching position in the team, while supporting us in good and bad times as a unique Apollonist. Today an important person in the history of Apollo, Vassilis Georgiou, passed away.

Apart from the relationship that Vassilis Georgiou had with Apollo, no one can forget the “legendary voice” in the radio description of the 1968 Basketball Winners’ Cup that he did for Greek radio when AEK won the European Cup.

The “black and white” family extends its condolences to his family and loved ones.”
