The former Argentine footballer with a great career plays basketball in the Italian 6th league and sweeps
Rodrigo Palacio, who is causing a sensation as a goalscorer in the sixth Italian basketball league, has started a second career.
He didn’t just make a career in football. He had a great career in the sport wearing the jerseys of very big teams. Rodrigo Palacio played for Banfield, Boca Juniors, Genoa, Inter Milan, Bologna, Brescia and now, at 41, he has become… a basketball player. Literally! The Argentine, with 177 goals in 607 games, wears the jersey of Polisportiva Gareniano, a team in the 6th division of Italian basketball, and also puts in great performances.
At 5-foot-10, Palacio plays the guard positions and after six games into the season, his team has a 5-1 record. He even has an average of 11.7 points, while in the last game he scored 16 points and was Polisportiva Gareniano’s top scorer in the 70-60 victory over San Pio. In order, Palacio scored 12, 17, 6, 15, 4 and 16 points. The Argentine played 27 times for his country’s national team and scored three goals. He also has a Spanish passport and therefore competes as a European.
