Puerto Rican basketball legend Jose Piculin Ortiz announced via video Wednesday that he is suffering from colon cancer and sent a message that he will do whatever it takes to win, just as he has done on the court for 25 years.

Jose Piculin Ortiz has had the character and skills of a winner throughout his long career on the court and now he is ready to fight his greatest battle: the Puerto Rican basketball veteran announces in a video published on his Instagram account, that he is sick with colon cancer.

“As a person who has learned to deal with my problems, I have to inform you that I was diagnosed with colon cancer on November 2nd. Everyone in my family is willing to fight with positive thinking, even when it’s not easy.”

I will do my best, as I always did on the field and in all the difficult moments of my life before. All we ask is that you pray for us. I want to send a message to 45-50 year olds.

Don’t be afraid of a colonoscopy. Treatment is prevention. You have to think about it. I thought it was something else, but when I took the test it turned out I had this cancer. said Ortiz, 60, who had his wife Silvia Rios by his side in the video he posted.

It is noted that Ortiz has had an impressive career, including in the magical world of the NBA and in the two superpowers of Spanish sports, Barcelona and Real, while for several years he honored the Greek championship with the jersey of Larissa , Heraklion, Aris (with whom he won the Korats Cup in the 1996/97 season) and PAOK.
