Ergin Atamans Panathinaikos AKTOR once again gave OAKA color and pulse

Panathinaikos AKTOR duly completed the trio of consecutive home games, confirming that they are on a continuous upward trend. The mental preparedness that was confirmed by the creation of the free kicks, the impressive percentages and the plan B in the second half. Alexandros Trigas writes.

3/3 in OAKA was Panathinaikos AKTOR’s goal after the double he scored two weeks ago at the Mercedes Benz Arena. Ultimately, the program was structured in such a way that it gave the Greens reason to step on the gas.

If they were, otherwise the “good program” would be destroyed and become a major wound for Ergin Ataman’s team. That’s why the Greens had every reason to smile broadly after the final and celebrate with the whole team and at the same time improve their winning streak.

Mental preparation brought the good ratings

To be honest, 9/13 threes in the 13th minute is not… a normal rate. This happens from time to time, rather it arises as a condition that is the trigger for water to enter the groove.

But the question is how these shootings came about. Through the aggression (mainly from Kostas Sloukas) in the pick and roll. Valencia is a team that prefers to protect its stick (at all costs) and… play with the opponent’s three-pointer. Panathinaikos AKTOR was ready to take advantage of the given situation and tried to create an imbalance in the opponent’s defense early after the pick and roll.

Kostas Sloukas attacked the Spanish team’s defense primarily (and Gerryan Grant secondarily), stepping on the opponent’s stick and now having a visible space to find the free teammate. Almost all shots were taken under good conditions, due to the flow of the attack, thereby increasing the chances of hitting. When it happened.

The value of the full bank

The positive for Ergin Ataman was that everyone who came on performed the same in the first half as those who started the game (Kostas Sloukas, Jerian Grant, Marius Grigonis, Dinos Mitoglou, Matias Lesor).

Lefteris Mandzoukas’ 3/3 3-pointers at halftime were not just the icing on the cake, but confirmation that the bench can be crucial in the EuroLeague.

Plan B in progress

At the start of the second half, Panathinaikos AKTOR once again showed itself ready to adapt to the conditions. Since at one point in the second period the insistence on the three-pointer led to a loss of rhythm (note: 9/13 three-pointers led to some rushed options and allowed Valencia to take a small lead midway through the second quarter), Ergin Ataman’s players came out of the Locker room, absolutely ready to put Plan B into action.

How; Matias Lesor cuts to the opponent’s racket much faster, so that he gets the ball directly above the screen. Kostas Slukas quickly gave him the possession he needed to do irreparable damage to Valencia’s defense and also to enter the game atmosphere more dynamically (11 points in the second half).

The outburst in the finale has an explanation

Somehow, Panathinaikos AKTOR achieved four wins in a row, and the crowd enjoyed what they saw on the court. Something that had been happening for several years. Hence the outburst at the end of the game and the small celebration in which the team’s players stood in front of the organizers’ horseshoe.

Let’s not overlook what has happened to the Panathinaikos organization in recent years, namely the fact that the relationship between the platform and the pitch has changed a lot. All of this is being rebuilt day by day, game by game.

For Panathinaikos, AKTOR needs to rebuild its program and culture to achieve a return to the top, something Ergin Ataman mentions again and again.

PLEKHANOV: “There are also a few points I would like to point out”

Head coach of “Kharkov Falcons” Valery Plekhanov He summarized the team’s 2025 results and talked about the preparations for the continuation of the season:

“Summing up the results of the calendar year, I want to congratulate all our fans on the upcoming New Year and Merry Christmas, wish our favorite team peace and good victories! “Kharkov Falcons” are the first players of this Super League season, so second place at the moment is a good result.

There are a few points we would like to emphasize separately. First of all, seven players from last season’s active squad won the Premier League together, but five of them never played in the Super League. Therefore, the experience they gained in the first half of this season is almost priceless. Secondly, Kharkiv Falcons are one of the two champion teams that did not play a single match at home. It’s very difficult when you’re not playing for your fans, you’re training in one gym, and you’re playing in a different gym every time, even on home tours. In these conditions, 4 defeats in 13 matches is a good result.

One of the most negative moments of this year was not being able to participate in the last four of the Ukrainian Cup. Unfortunately, we were a little unlucky in the draw. After an emotionally difficult and physically exhausting match with Krivbass, we did not have enough strength for the next match against Kiev-Basket in the quarter-finals. Unfortunately, our performances in the cup are over, but now we will be able to focus all our efforts on the championship.

Our main problem now is injuries. We have five injured players, three of whom have serious injuries that require a long recovery period. We’re about to get off to a very tough start to the new calendar season because the Falcons will be playing basketball six weekends in a row, which means six road trips with no rest time. If we could count on all twelve players in the squad at the beginning of the season, there will no longer be such a rotation. Therefore, all the responsibility and burden will fall on the players in the rankings. I hope they get over their injuries in the new year, recover from their injuries as soon as possible, return to work and help their beloved club properly represent Kharkiv in the Super League.

Despite the holidays, we have training scheduled almost seven days a week. “I really hope that by January 10 we will be a combat-ready team that can solve serious problems.”
