“We played five against eight”: Monaco’s outburst over the management of the game against Partizan
There were strong complaints from Monaco players following their team’s EuroLeague loss to Partizan, with Donatas Motiejunas, Alfa Diallo, John Brown and Mathieu Strazel expressing their displeasure in social media posts after the game ended.
The Monegasque players expressed their great dissatisfaction with the management in the match between Monaco and Partizan after their defeat against the Black and White Belgrade in extra time with 89:85.
There were many complaints from Saša Obradović’s players, who made their protests against the game’s refereeing widely known through social media posts.
Donatas Motiegiounas spoke to SKWEEK immediately after the game ended and explained: “We played five against eight. I don’t know it. It’s embarrassing for the EuroLeague. I’ve never talked about the referees or their bad decisions in my career, but it was one thing after another.”
The Lithuanian also expressed his grievances on social media, as he wrote in his post: “Someone needs to watch this game again. Too many one-sided whistles during the last few possessions of the game.”
Alfa Diallo also took a stand and wrote on his Instagram account “You can’t win a 5-on-8 game” with obvious digs at the game’s diet triad.
Both Strazel and John Brown posted footage of a foul that they said was not called in their team’s favor, along with the caption “No whistle”.
