The administrative head of KAE Panathinaikos, Dimitris Giannakopoulos, emphasized that the efforts made by him and Panagiotis and Giorgos Angelopoulos should not be compared with what is being done in football or volleyball.

The government announced measures against violence and the administrative head of KAE Panathinaikos, Dimitris Giannakopoulos, spoke in favor of the measures, emphasizing that the decision of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis was absolutely right.

A little later, he emphasized in his statement on social media that the efforts that he, Mr. Giorgos and Panagiotis Angelopoulos are making should not be compared with what is being achieved in either football or volleyball.

Dimitris Giannakopoulos’ statement in detail:

“I’m not k@@@tumba, nor have I changed, nor do I look at my interest because it’s basketball. So, let’s explain ourselves. Firstly, if it was done in all stadiums, but without suspension and the punishment of If Olympiakos goes after it, it would basically be a favor to Olympiakos where they play four games behind closed doors, basically not counting because they all would be closed. So this part is fair and the most important because we also have a Prime Minister who is Olympiacos. And he made a decision that is fair because it doesn’t equate the four games.

Let’s get to the topic of basketball. At OAKA we have created a great, family atmosphere with Christmas parks. It would be unfair if basketball paid for it too. Since we all know violence in stadiums and I have often successfully taken action against violence and do everything in my power to ensure that there is no violence, it starts with football. Let’s get the facts and figures together. This was done; They happen in the ball. Football fans have brought violence into other sports too. I don’t think there used to be violence in volleyball, basketball or anywhere else.

Football brought violence. So if it is a measure that affects football, that is of course correct. It is absolutely correct. Now I completely understand the people who have paid a subscription. I didn’t say that people shouldn’t get their money back from season tickets. That’s another story. It’s not something that falls to me… I say it’s fair because it wasn’t a favor for Olympiakos to do this behind closed doors for the rest of the teams.

And to finish with basketball, Panathinaikos has proven to have a basketball audience for countless years. Olympiacos, good for him, he built his own Olympic audience. His own basketball audience. In Piraeus they are endlessly sold out. They had success and made an Olympiakos-Panathinaikos game with… hair, with little things outside the stadium. It was a match that didn’t open their noses or praise.

The efforts that I and Mr. Angelopoulos are making should not be compared to what is being done in football or volleyball. I don’t understand where I am. And if you don’t like my point of view, it is your inalienable right to disagree. We don’t have to agree on everything. We have a democracy. Because it is my inalienable right to always express my opinion.”
