Basketball players from the Indiana Pacers and the Milwaukee Bucks got into an altercation and brawl after the NBA regular season match over the ball, Sports Illustrated reports.
Bucks leader Giannis Antetokounmpo, who scored a record 64 points per game in his career and for the club, believed that the Pacers basketball players took the ball to their locker room, which traditionally goes to the basketball player who sets the record.
The angry Greek first went to the bleachers to find the ball, and then returned to the court and began to heatedly argue with Pacers leader Tyrese Haliburton.
Indiana head coach Rick Carlisle explained after the game that they took the ball to give it to rookie Oscar Tshiebwe – the basketball player made one of two free throws and scored the first point of his NBA career.
“There was a misunderstanding about the game ball,” the coach said.
Carlisle added that many Bucks players ended up in the Pacers’ bleachers, which led to a “scandal.” He added that no punches were thrown, but general manager Chad Buchanan took an elbow to the ribs.
Antetokounmpo said after the game that he knew the Pacers had the ball. In the end, he received the ball, but the player is not sure that he received the one that was used in the game, and not a spare one.
The meeting ended with a victory for Milwaukee with a score of 140:126.
