Efthymis Rentzias took over the position of the new General Director of ESAKE
ESAKE’s board voted unanimously and appointed Efthymis Rentzias as the organization’s new general director.
Efthymis Rentzias officially assumed the duties of General Manager of ESAKE following a unanimous decision by the board on Thursday, December 14th.
ESAKE’s announcement in detail:
“ESAKE, as part of its continuous development efforts as the organizing authority of the Stoiximan Basket League and its organizational modernization, announces the recruitment of Mr. Efthymis Rentzias for the position of General Manager following a unanimous decision by the Board of Directors of the Association after evaluating the nominations submitted following the open call for Expression of interest.
Born on January 11, 1976 in Megala Kalivia, Trikala, Efthimis Rentzias is an “old glory of Greek basketball” who played in the NBA with the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2002–03 season and was crowned world champion with the youth national team in 1995 in Athens.
He also played for Danao, PAOK (with whom he won the Korats Cup in Greece), Barcelona (two Spanish championships, a Korats Cup and a Spanish Cup), Ülker, Siena and Valladolid. He has 128 appearances for the national team.
He has been the NBA’s ambassador in Europe since 2016.
He was general manager at KAE Trikala Bc (2015–17) and is a member of the board of the Greek Basketball Federation.
For eight years (2011-19) he was Deputy Governor of Thessaly for Sports and Culture.
