The victory between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Indiana Pacers in the first NBA Cup Finals was more than just a victory for three players on the Los Angeles team.

To ensure that midseason competition garners even more attention than regular-phase win totals, the NBA has established a system of financial incentives for all players. Depending on the team’s final standings, players on the roster will receive a $500,000 bonus, regardless of playing time.

This amount may be negligible for players on max contracts, but for some young players and two-way players, this could be a financial solution for the season.

In the past few hours, articles have surfaced that speak highly of LeBron James. Lakers No. 23 promised three of his dual-contracted Los Angeles Lakers teammates that he would win a tournament for them. Just before taking the court for the grand finale against the Pacers, LeBron told Alex Fudge: “This is for you, Fudge. This is for you, Domoy Hodge. This is for everyone. I’ll take care of it, don’t worry.”

Domoi Hodge later confirmed the words of his teammates with the South Bay Lakers, the Lakers’ G League affiliate team. “I believed in him and I’m here now. Just knowing he’s thinking about us is a blessing. There’s a lot of people like that. That just says a lot about who LeBron is. ”
