The 14th matchday of the Elite League included a traditional battle on the Greek stage, in which Panionios defeated Heraklis and Nikos Gikas achieved the triple-double in the role of maestro. Austin Trice’s great performance wasn’t enough for Psychiko. Sportish presents you with a review of the 14th round of the second-placed Greek Basketball League.

Matchday 14 of the Elite League ended with the traditional Battle of Panionion, where Heraklis took the spotlight and the performances of Ghika and Trice caught the attention, although only the Greek guard felt the joy of victory.

The Nea Smyrni team, with Aris Lykogiannis on the bench, managed 9/9 (8 wins in the league, 1 in the cup) and remained at the top of the table, with the blue-reds providing the best defense of the 14th round of the Greek second division Basketballs. Mykonos was the top attacker in what was once again a very interesting game.

The Sportish brings you a review of the 14th matchday of the Elite League.

MVP

Nikos Gikas led Panionios to a 71-61 victory over Herakles with a great performance just shy of a triple-double. The Greek guard had a multi-dimensional offering in his game, as in addition to the 21 points scored (2/4 shots, 5/8 two-pointers, 3/5 three-pointers), he grabbed 8 rebounds and distributed 9 Assists and collected 28 points in the scoring system. Ghikas was a master in the game for the Blue-Reds, who continued their run at the top of the table.

scorer

Austin Trice gave his best, but his performance wasn’t enough for his team to win. Psychiko lost to Eleftheroupolis 68:65 and was unable to capitalize on his goal performance. Trice scored 34 points on 13/21 two-pointers, 1/3 three-pointers and 5/6 shooting and also collected 11 rebounds in a productive double-double, with George Remendela’s player contributing just over half of their points scored for his team.

Attack… fire

Mykonos had no particular problems against Charilaos Trikoupis and prevailed with a clear result of 98:71. The 98 points are the top performance of the competition in this category, 36 of which were achieved from three-pointers, with an excellent percentage (12/24), another 56 from the 6m-75 line and the remaining six from the free throw line (6/6).

Defense… reinforced concrete

In the traditional fight against Heracles, Panionius took on his defensive function with a “weapon”. Nea Smyrni’s team severely limited the Thessaloniki team and did not allow them to find the necessary solutions offensively. With 61 passive points, Panionios would hardly have achieved victory, as the blue-reds scored ten more points and achieved the desired result.

The winners of the competition

Panionios, Megarida, Eleftheroupoli, Korivos Amaliadas, Aias Evosmou, Amyntas, Milonas and Mykonos continued their competitive tasks with victories and improved their record. First up are the Blue-Reds, who remain unbeaten with Aris Lykogiannis on the bench.
