Capoyannis: “We were more stressed than we should have been, we kept our composure and won”
After Panathinaikos’ victory over Olympiakos, Eleni Kapoyiannis stressed that despite the victory her team showed more fear than it should have, noting that qualifying for the semi-finals was still meaningless.
Panathinaikos defeated Olympiakos in the Women’s Cup derby and qualified for the semi-finals. At the end of the game, Eleni Capogianni spoke to the ERT camera and emphasized that her team achieved victory qualification despite being more stressed than she should have been:
“These games are close. Even though we won, I think we were more stressed than we should have been. Sometimes our minds were broken. It’s a battle of personality and heart, and tactics play a certain role in these games.” …We stayed cool until the end and won the match. I would like to dedicate the victory to the people who are always by our side and support us and wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.”
Is Panathinaikos the favorite to win the cup based on their potential?
“There are no favorites or underdogs in the cup. It’s an event of surprises, so to speak. Last year we were in danger in the final. I think we’re closer. We have taken a big step against a big opponent and as the time has come, we will put them down. We’re closer.”
Which of the four teams would you like to play against?
“I won’t do that, it’s not right. We respect all opponents, we focus on our own team, regardless of the opponent, to build our team and win the cup.”
Do the two wins over Olympiakos give you an advantage ahead of your league battle?
“The second win means nothing at all. It just gives us a psychological advantage, but that’s all. These away games are close games and will be judged on details. So we keep the psychological advantage and nothing else.”
