Russian basketball player of the Chinese “Shanxi” Alexey Shved told what it is difficult for him to adapt to in China, and also named an exotic dish that he had a chance to try.

A former basketball player for several NBA clubs, as well as CSKA and Khimki, Shved moved to Shanxi in October, playing in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA).

— The most unusual thing is that we all live in a hotel. Everywhere I played before, I lived in a rented apartment. And here we live in a hotel, but I’m not complaining. The hotel is five stars, I have two rooms. The family lives with me. Now my parents have come to visit. That is, in principle, everything suits me, but in an apartment, of course, it’s more convenient.

— Have you thought about renting an apartment?

– And the season is short here. We’ve already played almost half of it. There are January, February and March left. The last game of the regular season, I think, is in early April. Plus, living in a hotel has its advantages. All players are actually staying in a hotel. Chinese in one, foreigners in the other. A driver comes to pick us up and takes us to training and back.

— How is your relationship with Chinese cuisine? Not everyone likes her…

“It’s strange that now I like everything.” Because the last time I came, the food didn’t seem tasty to me at all. Maybe my taste has changed. They have a lot of meat, fish, rice, noodles. Shanxi is generally considered the province where the best noodles are made. So I have no problems: I love everything, I eat everything.

— Did you manage to try anything exotic?

“I remember eating some kind of pig entrails.” Either the appendix or something like that. In general, they completely eat the pig here, there is nothing left. The only thing was that I somehow went out into the city and could try a crocodile. But I didn’t take any risks before the game,” Shved said in an interview with Rossiyskaya Gazeta.
