Russian basketball player Alexey Shved told why he decided to try his hand at the Chinese championship.
In the summer of 2023, Shved left CSKA Moscow and at the end of October moved to Shanxi, which plays in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA). In addition to CSKA, Khimki and Dynamo Moscow, Shved spent several years in the NBA clubs Minnesota, Philadelphia, Houston and New York.
— Did you immediately decide that you would continue your career abroad, or were you ready to stay in the United League?
— I would consider all options. But there were no offers from the United League. They wrote that no one could fulfill my contract, no one had that kind of money. But there was no talk about money, because there were simply no offers. So I was ready to stay in the United League.
— Your agent Obrad Fimich said that at first he was even upset that you chose China. Was he trying to convince you?
– Not that he convinced me. He said that there were offers from Spain, but I immediately said that I wanted to try myself in China. So I played in the Euroleague, and in North America, and in Russia. Now it’s time for something new,” Shved said in an interview with Rossiyskaya Gazeta.
