This is how Daniel Gafford’s perfect shooting streak ended.
Daniel Gafford didn’t have the best night. Despite scoring 19 points and grabbing 15 rebounds in 26 minutes, his team, the Dallas Mavericks, lost to the visiting Oklahoma City Thunder.
The bad news didn’t stop there. Because the Mavs’ interior, one of the last teams to arrive at the Texas franchise, was about to make NBA history. Gafford started against the Thunder and hit 33 consecutive shots, leaving him just two away from tying Wilt Chamberlain’s all-time record.
But his dream of matching the NBA record king was dashed almost as soon as it began. Gafford missed his first two-point shot and that was it.
The Mavs’ interior will have to settle for second-best all-time for the Wizards player to become one of the pillars of Dallas’ team.
