The RFB is ready to consider any applications to host the “Final Four” of the Russian Basketball Cup, regardless of the composition of participants – Kirilenko

The President of the Russian Basketball Federation (RBF), Andrei Kirilenko, announced his readiness to consider any application to host the Final Four of the Russian Cup in the future, regardless of the local team’s entry into this stage of the tournament.

The day before, the Final Four of the Russian Men’s Cup took place in Yekaterinburg. The trophy was won by Zenit St. Petersburg, which beat Paris Nizhny Novgorod in the decisive match – 64:55.

— How would you evaluate the organization of the “Final Four” of the Russian Cup? Are you happy that you chose Yekaterinburg to host it?

— The organization is excellent. In fact, this season we had a great experience here with the Russian Women’s Cup. We are glad that Ekaterinburg has grown in this regard, that a club of the VTB United League level has appeared here. I think it’s very right that such a strong region is represented by teams in our top men’s and women’s basketball championships.

— Do you have any idea where the next Final Four might take place?

— Let’s start with the fact that we are trying to become attached to the city of one of the teams participating in the Final Four. But in any case, if someone has a desire to host our event, regardless of which teams make it to the Final Four, we will definitely consider such an application. But priority will be given to the city that is represented in the decisive Cup matches. On the one hand, this gives some advantage to the hosts, on the other hand, it can create additional pressure. Actually, in one of the past semi-finals, “Uralmash,” it seems to me, was a little confused,” Rossiyskaya Gazeta quotes Kirilenko as saying.
