President of the Russian Basketball Federation (RFB) Andrei Kirilenko said that the format of the basketball tournament at the Friendship Games includes up to 12 teams.
The first ever “Friendship Games” will be held from September 15 to 29, 2024 in Moscow and Yekaterinburg.
— We are now working in this direction. In my opinion, the format includes 10–12 teams. Now invitations are sent out every week. Coordination is underway with the teams that can come to us,” RG.ru quotes Kirilenko as saying.
Russian athletes in most sports, including basketball, have been suspended from competing at international tournaments amid the situation in Ukraine.
