Minnesota Timberwolves employee Somak Sarkar was fired from the club and then taken into custody and charged with a felony for stealing “strategic NBA information,” ESPN reported, citing a criminal complaint.
A 33-year-old man is suspected of stealing more than a thousand internal files. Sarkar will appear in court Thursday afternoon in Minnesota.
Minnesota is aware of the incident, but the club does not plan to press criminal charges.
The Timberwolves are currently in third place in the NBA Western Conference standings.
