Greek specialist Andreas Pistiolis will head the CSKA basketball team, the club’s press service reports.
The contract runs until the end of the current season. The 45-year-old Greek’s last place of work was the Turkish Galatasaray. He previously worked at CSKA – from 2014 to 2022 as an assistant to Dimitris Itoudis.
Pistiolis has five victories in the Euroleague: three of them as a member of Zeljko Obradovic’s staff at Panathinaikos, two as the first assistant coach of CSKA. With the army team, he also won the VTB United League six times and twice reached the Euroleague bronze medals.
Pistiolis replaces Emil Rajkovic, whose departure the club announced earlier on Monday.
CSKA took third place in the regular season of the VTB United League. In 36 matches, the “red-blues” have 25 wins. In the first round of the league playoffs, CSKA will meet with Yenisey Krasnoyarsk. The first match of the series will take place on April 22.
