At a meeting of the central bureau of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA), it was decided to extend the suspension of the national federations of Russia and Belarus until December 2024, reports the press service of the Russian Basketball Federation (RFB).
The meeting was attended by RFB President Andrei Kirilenko, who, according to FIBA rules, did not have the right to participate in the discussion of certain issues related to Russia and Belarus.
“The current status of the national federations of Russia and Belarus has been extended until the next meeting of the FIBA central bureau in December 2024,” the message says.
Previously, FIBA suspended Russian national teams and clubs from competitions under the auspices of the organization due to the situation in Ukraine.
