Chas Mateo named EuroLeague Manager of the Year
Real Madrid manager Chus Mateo was named EuroLeague Manager of the Year this Sunday. Achieved by leading the team to the “Final Four” with a winning record in the championship.

The Spanish coach leads a team that is the EuroLeague leader in points (89.0 points per game), rebounds (36.8 points), assists (20.8 points) and blocks (3.6 points). Additionally, Real Madrid finished the regular season with 27 wins, and two of their three playoff wins were by more than 10 points.

EuroLeague’s Best Manager award is named after historic Russian manager Alexander Gomelskyis a four-time European Cup (formerly known as EuroLeague) winner, six-time EuroBasket champion, Olympic gold medalist, and two-time Basketball World Cup winner.
Mateo is the third Spanish coach to win this award, and the second from Real Madrid. Pablo Laso won the Coach of the Year award with Real Madrid in the 2014-15 and 2017-18 seasons, while Xavi Pascual won the award with Barcelona in the 2009-10 season.
