One of the leading Ukrainian basketball players was mobilized after trying to flee the country
Ukrainian basketball player of the Kyiv-Basket team Vadim Zaplotinsky was detained while trying to leave Ukraine, reports sport.ua.
The 26-year-old athlete was detained on May 12 as part of a group of people in the Bukovina region while trying to illegally cross the border of Ukraine with Romania.
— I just found out that one of the Kyiv-Basket players, moving through the mountains towards a neighboring country, was detained by the border service. Then – acquaintance with the territorial recruitment center and moving to the training center of the airborne assault forces, – wrote Max Sergeev, president of the Kyiv Basketball Federation, on a social network.
Last season, Zaplotinsky won bronze at the Ukrainian Championship and was recognized as the best defensive basketball player.
