There will be no merger between Basketball Girona and Super Girona
What was supposed to be the best union of the year will remain a mirage until further notice. Basketball Girona and Spar Girona will not merge next year, as was planned just a month ago. A joint statement signed by both clubs, who have so far refused to comment on the matter, clearly states that “due to timing issues, it is not possible to carry out this merger before the start of next season.” In the same letter, they also state that they “maintain their will to continue to work to explore the possibility of a future union.”
Both groups highlighted the developments made by Catalan Radio on Tuesday night, when the local radio station pointed out that the reason for the failure of the negotiations between Basketball Girona and Spa Girona’s Marc Gasol and Caetano Pérez was differences over the possibility of incorporation and investment policies.
Regardless, the schedule is tight and it seems they have already turned the page by announcing additions to their respective teams for next season: Argentine centre Juan Fernández in the men’s first team category and French guard Minha Toure in the men’s first team category. Women’s team. Some moves that put an end, for now, to a month full of speculation.
