Basketball CSKA signed a new two-year contract with basketball player Casper Ware in the Oktyabrsky mine shaft in Norilsk at a depth of 750 meters.
The signing took place on Tuesday. The club published photos and videos from the mine on social networks.
— Previously, they sent people to the mines for some kind of offense. But now the situation is somewhat different. We want to preserve the championship team. It is very important for us to preserve one of our leaders — Casper Weir. I want to make it clear: we did not go down to force him to sign a contract underground. We agreed on everything up there, — the press service of the club quotes CSKA President Andrei Vatutin as saying.
Ware, 34, has been playing for CSKA since 2022. Last season, the point guard helped the army team regain the championship title in the VTB United League. In 39 championship matches, the basketball player averaged 12.8 points, 1.7 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game.
