CSKA Extends Contract With VTB United League Playoff MVP Trimble

Moscow CSKA has extended its contract with American guard Melo Trimble, the basketball club’s website reports.
The new agreement with the 29-year-old basketball player is for two years.
“I am very happy to keep Melo in our team. He was an important part of the team’s actions and a key factor in our success. I look forward to continuing our cooperation in the coming years,” said CSKA head coach Andreas Pistiolis.
“The number 6 is back and I am grateful for the opportunity to wear the CSKA uniform for the next two years, to work with coach Andreas and the whole club!” Trimble said.
The capital club also announced the permanent transfer of center Alexander Gankevich. The agreement with the 28-year-old basketball player was concluded under the “2+1” scheme. Gankevich is a CSKA alumnus, last season he was rented by the army team, the rights to the player belonged to Pari Nizhny Novgorod.
Trimble joined CSKA in July 2023. In the season that has just ended, he became the team’s best player in terms of scoring average (14.6 points), was recognized as the best sixth player and the most valuable player of the VTB United League playoffs, and took part in the league’s All-Star Game.
In the final series, CSKA beat Kazan UNICS in five games, Trimble participated in all five games.
