Navarro: “Negotiations with Ricky are pending”
Coach Juan Carlos Navarro had to face some uncomfortable questions during the press conference announcing new coach Joan Peñarroya. One of them referred to the situation of Ricky Rubio, whose future is still up in the air as of July 1. “We are proud to be with him in his basketball recovery. As of today, discussions with Ricky are pending, but we will wait as long as he wants. If he decides not to be with us, that’s fine and we wish him the best,” Navarro noted.
The Barça coach also had to answer questions about the reports that the club has reached an agreement with Juan Núñez, pending a decision on whether to jump to the NBA (his rights went to the Spurs in the recent draft) or play another season in Europe: “I would like to bring in a game director, but Juan Núñez is a player we like and nothing has been decided yet. Every year we bet on young players with a future and I think he is a very good fit,” he said simply.
