Honored coach of Russia Sergei Elevich, in a conversation with Match TV, called Andrei Vorontsevich a stable and unfading player, but expressed concerns that the basketball player will not receive playing time as part of Zenit.
Zenit announced on Wednesday that it had signed a contract with the 36-year-old forward. The agreement was concluded under the 1+1 scheme. Last season, the basketball player played for PARI NN and UNICS. As part of the team from Kazan, Vorontsevich reached the final of the United League this year, and last year, together with UNICS, he won the tournament.
The basketball player spent most of his career at CSKA, for which he played from 2006 to 2020.
— I don’t know if Andrey will find his place in Zenit. This worries me a little. After all, there weren’t many foreigners in his position at UNICS. And Zenit will still be assembling a team, and I’m a little afraid that it might turn out that Vorontsevich will sit on the bench. But maybe Pascual will give him a place in the lineup. After all, one way or another, most of the Russian basketball players who were in Zenit last season got playing time. If this is exactly how it will be, it will be good. Because Vorontsevich is showing himself to be a stable and unfading player who can produce results. He is a very good basketball player, — Elevich told Match TV.
