Young basketball player from St. Petersburg ends up in intensive care after conflict with US native

The police of the Tikhvin district of the Leningrad region are investigating the circumstances of the injuries sustained by the 11-year-old basketball player, the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region reports.

As reported by the Telegram channel “Mash na Moike”, the St. Petersburg basketball player ended up in intensive care after he had an argument at a hotel during a competition in Tikhvin with 13-year-old Anthony, a native of the United States who received Russian citizenship seven years ago. According to the source, the boys were in the same room when Anthony hit his opponent in the stomach with his hand. The boy was hospitalized in serious condition with a ruptured spleen and blunt abdominal trauma – he was placed in intensive care.

— According to the victim, on July 22 at about 11:00 p.m. he had a conflict with a peer in a hotel room, as a result of which his opponent hit him in the stomach. The police are conducting an investigation into this incident and are establishing the details of the incident, — the St. Petersburg police said in a statement.
