US Women’s Basketball Wins Eighth Consecutive Olympic Gold
The US women’s basketball team defeated the French team in the final of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
The match ended with a score of 67:66 (15:9, 10:16, 20:18, 22:23). As part of the winners, Aja Wilson made a double-double (21 points and 13 rebounds), while Gabby Williams scored 19 points for the French team.
Team USA has won Olympic gold for the eighth time in a row. The Americans finished third at the Barcelona Games in 1992, and since then the Stars and Stripes have not lost a game. At that tournament, Team USA lost to the Unified Team in the semifinals of the tournament.
Team USA guard Diana Taurasi has become a six-time Olympic champion, a record for the most victories in a team sport at the Games.
