American guard Melo Trimble explained why he decided to extend his contract with Moscow CSKA, despite having offers from other teams.
— I had offers from other teams, but I knew I wanted to come back to CSKA right away. We have one of the best coaches I have ever played with. He is probably my favorite coach. So I knew there was no other team I would rather go to. I wanted to come back here because of the coach, the players and the organization. The choice was obvious. In my opinion, I had no other options. I was just waiting for an offer.
CSKA is the highest level team of my career so far. So now is the time to stay. We just became champions. Given the situation with the coach and the way they treat me here, I couldn’t say “no”. Everything was too good not to come back, – Trimble told “Championship”.
Trimble has been playing for CSKA since the summer of 2023. Last season, he became the team’s top scorer and was also named MVP of the VTB United League playoff stage.
The new season of the United League starts on September 21.
