Lokomotiv-Kuban player Johnson named a wrist injury as the reason for his decision not to declare his candidacy for the NBA draft
Lokomotiv-Kuban Krasnodar small forward B.J. Johnson explained his decision not to declare for the 2017 NBA draft.
The American decided to apply for the draft in 2018, but no one selected him.
— You decided not to declare for the NBA draft in 2017, despite being named to the Big 5 (Pennsylvania’s five oldest universities) All-NCAA team that season. Why did you make that decision?
“At that time, I had finished my third year, and the NBA had just introduced a rule that third-year players could also enter the draft, and then, if necessary, return for another year to finish their studies. But shortly before the draft, I injured my wrist and decided to properly heal it,” Johnson told “Championship.”
BJ Johnson, who spent last season with Parma, signed a contract with Lokomotiv-Kuban in June.
