NBA Philadelphia center Joel Embiid got into an altercation with a journalist and pushed him in the locker room after the regular season match against Memphis, the Associated Press reports.
The meeting took place in Philadelphia on Saturday and ended with a score of 124:107 in favor of the guests. Embiid did not take part in the match.
After the game, Embiid had a conflict with Philadelphia Inquirer columnist Marcus Hayes, who mentioned the basketball player’s late brother and the player’s son in his columns.
“The next time you talk about my dead brother and my son again, you will see what I will do to you,” the player allegedly told the journalist.
He continued to argue with Hayes, using profanity several times. The journalist apologized, but Embiid replied that this is “not the first time” this has happened.
A team security official asked the media not to report what happened, Embiid said “they can do whatever they want.”
“We are aware of reports of an incident in the Philadelphia locker room, and we are starting an investigation,” an NBA representative told ESPN.
Embiid’s younger brother Arthur died in a traffic accident in 2014 at the age of 13.
